Re: Book Suggestions

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

IMHO, it is a huge list that Stoyan suggested, although all of them are
great books and necessary for a C++ developer. But I think, wouldnt it be
enough for a newbie who is just coming to the language the first two entries
in Stoyan's list.

Also Zeeshan, you didnt mention what kind of windows software development
you are eager to do? There are many books for many windows programming
areas.

I can tell you my route that I followed for this task.

1. Programming Windows by Charles Petzold. (The ultimate reference on
programming windows using Win32 APIs right from the start of WINDOWS itself)

2. Developing Applications for Microsoft Windows 98 and NT by Brain Marshal
(It is a MFC based book)

3. Professional MFC by Mike (I just forgot his last name anyway you can
search for this book on amazon. I ll recommend to read this book only after
you have read book #2. Mike is one of the creators of MFC framework.)

The 'Ivor Horton' book and 'Jeffrey Ritcher' books are also great ones but
'Jeffrey Ritcher' book is somewhat advanced and demands that reader has
strong grip on Win32 APIs and internal structure of Windows.
