Cannot install Sdk

I have posted this on another newsgroup but never got any response. Any help
would be appreciated.
I have a secondary computer that had on it the Windows Platform Sdk from
2001. The installation of that platform was damaged when someone deleted the
files without un-installing. When I tried to un-installed it from the
Add/Remove Programs function it indicated that files were missing and asked
if I wanted to remove the item from the Add/Remove Programs list, which I did.
When I went to install (what I believe is the latest) Platform Sdk 2/2003 it
would not install, indicating that a privious Sdk was installed and that it
must be removed before the Sdk 2/2003 could be installed.
The files are gone. The CD is no longer available for the 2001 Sdk. Is there
a way to remove the "debrie" left over from the privios Platform Sdk and get
the Platform Sdk 2/2003 to install?
I have a Microsoft Universal Subscription but downloading large files can be
a problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
