    I assume you're looking for some "free" stuff.

    If you have access to a unix server, there are CVS and Subversion (both are
    free). IIRC, both come with an MS SCC client which is (kind-of) plug-in
    compatible with VC6/7/7.1, I believe. Try googling for them. (I believe
    there are some rudimentary support for CVS and perhaps Subversion for
    Windows on the server side as well, but I'd stay out of that).

    If you are the only user, I'd seriously consider Perforce
    (www.perforce.com) - the unlicensed server comes with a restriction of 2
    user + 2 clients (aka workspaces). If Perforce was all for free there's no
    question which I'd pick ... it's really outstanding. Perforce have clients +
    servers for virtually all platforms, so you can run the server on the same
    machine as your client during evaluation. There's also a MS SCC client
    included.
