Hi Tapper,
Did you mean that previously you're directly modifying the registry key to
change default playback device? I'm sorry that I'm not aware of approach
and would like to know more about it such as where is the documentation for
it. Also, do you need to restart to make the new settings take effect?
Again, we're sorry for the inconvenience caused by this WMP issue. I fully
understand that you have to fallback to the workaround to change the
default playback device globally. I'll do further researching and
consulting to see if there's any other documented way to do that on Vista.
In the meanwhile, I'm still wondering is there any other approaches other
than changing the default playback device programmatically. I mean, your
original objective is to play media files through WMP and you want to
control it to output through non-default playback device. Could you please
tell me how the media files are used in your program? As I pointed out in
my previous replies, you could actually use the multimedia APIs to play
those files and specify a different device. Do you think it's possible to
use such approach to play those media files instead of automating WMP?
