Can someone tell me how to monitor the registry in order to find if achange
has happened?

You might need to provide more details on why and on what platform you need
to do this.
In general the Registry is rather good at keeping tabs on what has been
touched, ie, an attempted 'read' generally insures a change will be
reflected. However, different O/S have slightly different flush algorithms
(hard, lazy, etc).
If this is for debugging purposes you might check out the ready-made toys at
www.sysinternals.com (owned by MS now I think). There was once some source
code available but it is in C. There are other tools w/source available as
well, but I don't think I have ever seen anything written in VB.
