My problem is that the 'problematic' languages are a kindof lastminutewish
of my client, and the application has to work fine by the end of the week
(and I'm busy on other things too, so I won't have much time during theweek
either). So going into this 'deep' programmation would maybe not be theprojects!
solution for this time. However, it'll be very usefull for future
That's why I come with a last and quick (I hope) question: Why shouldn'tI
use Forms 2 ? I tried them and it seems to work fine for me, but doesthat
mean that the user needs to have Office installed on his computer(license
problem) ? If yes, it's no solution for me ... If no, what are the issues?
It is not only the problem of the distribution licence: Using Forms 2.0
controls in your VB 5.0/6.0 may result in strange behaviour of your
application. A very well known effect is the unexpected throwing of an "out
of memory error" although there seems to be no reason for this. MS points
out that Forms 2.0 is >not< designed for use in VB 5.0/6.0.
Since you have coded your application for a client of yours I would be very
very carefull with the use of Forms 2.0. I see a special risk in using
Forms 2.0 together with databases in that external libraries are involved
for which no one can tell if they are fully compatible to Forms 2.0.
Thorsten: yes I live in Freiburg as well, and unfortunately, today'sweather
isn't that great either, although I managed to go for a shortmountainbike
ride with my dog this morning, up to the roßkopf, if you know ... Maybe
tomorrow, we'll see the sun ... ?
The weather was really disgusting - and I don't have much hope for
tomorrow...
