I got a problem with several apps running slower after the following
process has been completed.
Last year I moved all the Application from an old server (Windows NT
Domain Controller) to a new Windows 2003 server. I also install New
Dell Windows XP system
These apps are launch from a N: drive.
Everything ran fine.
This year I wanted to get rid of the old server since it was only
functioning as a domain controller.
So I migrated the users, sids to the new server new domain. and
everything was fine during that process.
Tested the apps are all seems OK.
After turning off the Old NT domain server and rebooting the
workstations, only the VB apps run slow from the N:
Which has been the same drive that they used all year.
If I turn the old NT server back on the application run much faster.
It may take 2.5 minutes to launch without the old NT server and about
15 secs with it running.
In both cases the app works fine just one slower than the other
I'm not the programmer but only the network consultant, but I'm trying
to determine why these apps want that old server on.- Hide quoted text -

WINS was running on the old server, but is not part of DHCP anymore.
WINS is not on the new Server since Active Directory is not using it.
The DNS is on the new server, and then forwarded to the Internet.
