Re: How to obtain a free or cheap digital certificate

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Good point! Actually I have never purchased a digital cert and have been
selling and distributing this program for 5+ years. Only one customer has
questioned the no authenticated message thats shows when DL the program.

So...I guess most users either dont care or click away without
questioning. I figured Id get a dig cert if it was cheap or free...none
really are I guess. The good ones cost some money. The one you pointed to
is not bad price for $99 a year...but I still wonder why I should spend
$100 for something I really dont "need"? Comments?

Why? If you are hoping to avoid security prompts, think again. A
certificate means that the prompt will now show the certificate, not
that it will go away. What is the use of a certificate that says "this
software has a cheap certificate which can't be authenticated?" If you
want one that actually certifies something, and that can be traced to
a trusted root authority, you need to pay a company to provide you
one. You can get them for about $99 a year from ksoftware.net.
