It wouldn't be a shortcut property. It relates to
looking at the vb sample in Shelllnk I don't see an option that looks
like
'Action' or "Menu" or anything close...
file extension. You can add context menu items
under HKCR\.ext or HKCR\filetype.
( HKCR\.lnk HKCR\lnkfile )
If you look at other file types in the Registry you'll
see it done both ways. Microsoft seems to usually
add it under the filetype, but as far as I know it works
the same way. You add a Shell subkey, then anything
under that shows in the top section of the contect menu.
That's how the famous "Open With Notepad" tweak is
done.
The .lnk extension has some unusual properties. I don't
know whether you can just add a Shell key like you can
with other file types. For instance, if I click a Desktop
icon and select Open with Notepad it will open the target
program, not the shortcut. If I want to actually open the
.lnk file I have to change the extension.
Another possible option, if you want it for just one
shortcut, would be to create a custom file type, set up
the .cus key with a Shell menu, then set the default
value to "lnkfile". But again, I don't know whether that
will work or not.
thanks we'll play around abit
