Not sure I agree that we would disagree on the "known trolls" list...as you've said, "we all know who the troublemakers are".

So why is it, then, that we all don't simply ignore them? We let them turn this list into a forum for debate EVERY SINGLE TIME! And if there hasn't been a debate in a day or two, or someone just wants to stir the pot, they post something new...like "Sorry but I have to ask", for instance.

I honestly don't know. I let myself get drawn in a few days back and am not happy with myself about it. But you are absolutely right, we should just re-assert ourselves to ignoring them. It took Bob a few posting and reposting to get the idea across that we should not respond to spam, not matter how temping or amusing the reply might be. Collectively, we should agree to do this with the known troublemakers...no matter how tempting it may be. Jeff Johnson make a great post the other day about this debacle and I think it's the way we should go. We all have less than stellar opinions about MS, .NET and the direction they are taking...but perhaps we just agree to put that aside, redirect the .NET questions to the appropriate groups without commentary and just force ourselves to ignore the trolling. I know and understand it's difficult to just stand by and watch the trolling go unanswered, but it's time to just man up and let it go and move on.

Let them stir the pot and just turn the other cheek. They want the replies. Deny them this and eventually they will go away...even if it takes a bit of time. I don't see any other way to clean this group up.
