I've looked through many of the old posts in these groups Michael and
there were several cases of questions from newbies asking whether VB6 was
OK to use for new code. In every single case they got a considered
response advising them of the dangers and recommending various other
routes, including both MS and non-MS ones. I haven't seen a single
response saying anything like 'yeah, VB6 beats the socks off .Net. Go for
it!"
That's true but that's not what I'm talking about. For dot net we get very
exaggerated over the top warnings about not using it. For VB6 we get
considered responses that really don't stress what a big deal it is working
in a language that has gone end of life 7 years ago. Surely there is a much
greater risk of running into issues using vb6 than there is dot net. So why
aren't the warning as exaggerated as with dot net. Generally the VB warning
go along the lines of "well if you don't mind this and this then go for it".
They tend to brush over the issues.
Michael
