Do you mean that in a good way or bad way?

Take it whichever way you want. I actually meant it in a good way. A sort of half joke really. But if you want to take offence then please feel free to do so.

I know you're ticked at MS and maybe it's for a good reason.
I don't know the reason and I don't care. But this IS an MS
newsgroup to support an MS product (even if MS isn't really
supporting it anymore). If you don't have anything good to say
about MS, then just don't say anything.

Right. Okay. Got it. So if we have something nice to say about Micro$oft then we can say it, but if we have something not very nice to say about them then we should keep our mouths shut? Thanks for putting me right. Do those rules apply to everybody by the way, or just to your Micro$oft friends? Perhaps you should get a job in the Chinese administration. They've got the same ideas as you. Either say something nice about them or don't say anything at all! Sheesh! I though you Yanks believed in democracy?

Did you ever stop to think that consistent bashing of MS could
POSSIBLY cause them to drop these newsgroups?

No. It never entered my head. Are you saying that Micro$oft have the same view as you, and that they will only accept people saying nice things about them? Perhaps you should get a job with them, maybe as some sort of public relations brown noser?

These newsgroups are pretty much the only "real time"
support anybody can get for VB6 and under

"These" newsgroups? Surely you mean THIS newsgroup, which is the only VB6 group on the Micro$oft Public server? There are plenty of other places and other newsgroups VB6 programmers can go for help which are not controlled by Micro$oft. They are not very well attended at the moment (although one of them used to be very well attended no so very long ago). I'm sure if Micro$oft closed this specific group then the other alternarive groups would easily be able to take up the slack.

They're certainly not going to if people keep posting negative
comments about them.

Tough. They can do whatever they wish. It doesn't bother me, and it really shouldn't bother anyone else. there are plenty of other places to go. I'm not going to suck up to Micro$oft just because they are holding a gun against my head, as you appear to think they are doing.

Sorry to everyone else for the rant. Just something I had to get out.

If you're saying sorry then presumably you think you have done something to apologise for. In that case, why did you do it? You cannot have been truly sorry or you would not have clicked the send button (because you must have inserted the fake "sorry" message before you did so). Perhaps you are not really sorry at all ;-)

Mike
