Re: Back to VB6 and .NET

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

While I'll admit it was anecdotal, when I first started exploring the possibility of moving to Delphi, I found a HUGE number of people in the Delphi newsgroups who rejected VB.NET but were looking for something to move to from VB6.

It's also the very first language I hear recommended almost every time someone says they don't like .NET and wants to know what else is out there.

As to dumping their development products, they certainly did put it into a spin-off company, but I don't think that was them "dumping" the products so much as simply using the reverse of Microsoft's strategy (buy everything everywhere and try to have your hand in everything) in order to keep each company focussed on something specific. That's my impression, anyway. If you can point me to something from Borland that says that they wanted to truly get rid of Delphi, et al, I'd be interested to read it.

Not sure how you measured this Delphi resurgence since Borland essentially was looking to dump their

It's sink or swim time. Perhaps it's support of .NET will keep it alive in the future. ;-)
