Can I ask what made you move away from C#?
I had a look at the free C# Express 2008 and it doesn't look bad.
I am in no hurry to move away from VB, but it is no harm to look around.

Delphi is coupled very closely to windows. No special declarations for
Win32 API.
"Most" of the stuff I do isn't GUI related. Creating a Win32 DLL in Delphi is
a snap as a few of the guys here that use it will give testament to.

Even though I had no interest in doing anything dot net at the time, the promo
stuff from Borland made it seem like generating a dot net app from a regular
Delphi app wasnt' much of a leap ( I can't verify this as I have never done
it), so it appeared that if I "needed" to do it, I could. I should note that
when I bought D7 professional, I had the D7 personal edition for about a year
and then bought D8, which came bundled with D7 as well. I never installed D8.
The current Delphi IDE supports Win32, dot net, and C#, but I'm not upgrading
yet.

Maybe, maybe not. That's a choice you'd have to make. It was always fairly
clear MS was not that interested in vb 1 to 6 and it is very clear they're
interested in the dot net range. You could go with Delphi and find they go
broke. That's not going to happen with MS and a product they've literally
invested billions in.

I went the Delphi route after a brief look at C#. I am satisfied I made a
good choice.

Even if CodeGear goes broke, there is a few choices of Delphiesque tools in
the open source community and I don't think Pascal as a language is likely
to be discontinued either.
