Installed VB6SP6 on Vista laptop.
Load a few apps (all work great on XP Pro) and compiled OK; ran OK.
Then loaded one of my larger apps and got erros just loading.
Something about registry; no information on what or how or where.
Anyone know how to determine cause?

Does your app have any activeX references?
If so, install and activate the ActiveX installer service in
Vista Business and above.

1) If all else fails, where can I find info on installing WinXP pro on
existing Vista laptop?
Or should I remove Vista and just install XP Pro?
Is there a site that discusses installing different OS on PC (like
Ubuntu/WinXP/Vista).

2) Does it help to package an app on XP Pro PC, then carry it to a Vista
machine and install, then bring up the IDE on Vista and make changes to the
source. i.e. does installing an app help Vista get ready for the IDE loading
and running the app?

No. I have apps that work on from both XP and Vista in a dual boot setup.

3) Is Inno better at preparing a package for Vista (or even XP Pro) than the
Packager add-in in the IDE?

Yes. With inno you can also present your installer to require administrator,
or to install as a standard user.

You can also set it to launch the just installed app either as Administrator
or Standard user.

4) I use "Run As Admin" and also set Vista to use XP compatibility. Not
sure if this needs to be done every time or one time to set Vista for this
condition for all future runs. What's the skinny?

VB6.exe will run just fine in vista but does require Run as Administrator.
It does "Not" require XP compatibility mode.
