Kjell <Kjell@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>'s wild thoughts were
released on Wed, 12 Sep 2007 09:58:01 -0700 bearing the
following fruit:
Reg the problem with label dislocated.
Are you running the latest ver. dated 12 Sept 16:10 CET (GMT+1) ?
Yep.
what was the last action you did just before you noticed the dislocated
label ("23:00") ?
I didn't perform any action, I just loaded it up.
The 'extra info textbox' is suppose to dissapear as soon as 'note' looses
focus.
whether that's good and usefull can be dscussed of course...
Yes I realise it's by design, I was just suggesting that it
would be better if didn't, at least while I have the related
item selected.
Tabs (double sided) way of work is a philosophy of it's own, that's why I
gladely took Larry's suggestion with the 14 tabs in top as the default style.
A good suggestion ;-)
Just like the top tabs you do not have much use of the tab for current month
That's not the case, firstly you expect to be able to see
which tab is selected, and secondly it enables keyboard
support.
so in side style you don't have one, it's a simple as that.
Current month is always in front of you,
top textbox caption can/will tell you the day, date, week and month all the
time.
The reason for the other side tabs not staying where you had them is also
pretty simple.
I should have said, I realise what the point is, I was just
commenting that I find it a confusing interface.
To go to next month: top tap right side. go to previously month: top tab
left side
two month ahead: second tab from top on right side, etc etc.
The final reason is that you can reach all history and all future with the
same set of tabs.
Whether that is usefull, convenient and a good function can also be
discussed :-)
I'm sucking in every detail I can get here as you can see.......
Of course should a decient control have keyboard control support.
I've added some; you can activate a built in function to allow the control
move in time with side arrows and in scroll up/down with up/down arrows.
tab works also to change focus inside control, and Enter works also.
pls. do not hesitate to suggest any other action a keypress should do.
btw. I'm forwarding KeyPress, Keydown, Keyup and several Clicks,
doubleclicks and Mouse click event for the host to use.
At the very least I should be able to navigate the entire
control via the keyboard.

This error is more interesting as I haven't seen this since the beginning of
June.....
I cannot reproduce it, can it be a side effect of the overflow problem?
it's the positioning of all labels that involves the overflow....
I think I will leave this aside till someone can reproduce it using the
latest fix.
thanks Jan, your inputs are very much appreciated.
Problem occured again just now. All I did was run it I
haven't done a thing yet.
Some user interface comments.
The 'extra info textbox' - it dissapears when you click on
it denying me access to the info. Using your own example, if
I want the email address I would expect to be able to copy
the text from that box but it just disappears.
I can get it's direction but not it's speed ;-)
Tabs (on the side)
When I click on say 'May' all the tabs change, to click back
to 'April' again I have to hunt round the screen to see
where it's gone. I find the whole thing confusing.
If I click 'May' I'd expect the 'May' tab to become selected
and every other tab to stay where it is.
Lastly,
Keyboard support... or not supported. I use the keyboard at
least 90% of the time, keyboard support is very important.

Since I find it very valuable to hear your comments I'm hereby inviting you
all to check out my calendar control written in VB6.
I would also like to send a special thanks to Larry, Ken and Karl for their
contribution in this project.
Without their excellent code snippets and endless repeating their knowledge
already said a 100 times this little control would not exist.
The control along with a sample exe project showing it's potential can be
found in either one of the following sites, neither one of them very fast,
but both very cheap.

It's a calendar control with another approach, not only can it deal with
dates it can also handle your notes and appointments, very much like a
book-calendar.
With some typical computer features and improvements of course.
Thanks for keeping VB-classic alive against the MS-wind
Kjell
Just one more thing. For some reason "23:00" appears over
"10:00" but all the the other time labels appear where I'd
expect.
