Help with regex

Hello,

i need help with a regex:

I would like to remove all >> co.<< and whats behind
but not remove >>& co.<<

Example:
Coca Cola Co. -> Coca Cola
Merck & Co. Inc. -> Merck & Co.

What pattern do i need to use?
