You just made me laugh out loud at work mike.
People are looking at me funny.
I'm not surprised. You are funny!
You stated 3 examples of where you thought I was right and
you wrong and then modified your original statement that was
completely and utterly wrong.
You're beginning to lose the thread again, Michael. I stated TWO examples
(the Corvette business and the imcompatibility of VB.Net), not three. In
both cases I stated that you I was right and you were wrong. Have you lost
the ability to count as well as the ability to reason? Which statement did I
modify?
As for the incompatability I never said vb6
and vb.net were completely compatible
I never said you did. You are just making things up and squirmng around
again because you are always afraid to admit when you are wrong. Complete
compatibility is not the issue, and you know that it isn't. No wonder the
people at work are looking at you funny.
VB5 and VB6 are not competely comaptible. Nobody would expect them to be.
But they are certainly VERY much like each other, and VB6 can definitely be
seen as the natural successor and the natural upgrade path to VB5. You said
that VB,Net and VB6 are VERY MUCH like each other, and they are no such
thing!
As for the corvette example you were far from right on this
one. The FACT is the new corvette is a corvette because
whoever make it say so.
You're living in a strange dream world where you believe that a manufacturer
should be able to do whatever he wants to do with complete impunity. What do
you think would happen if Microsoft sold VB.Net under the name "Microsoft
Windows Vista Ultimate Edition"? Microsoft "own" both trade marks, and under
your own beliefs they can use them however they want to, whether the
description actually fits the product or not. Do you seriously think they
should be allowed to do that?
The FACT is the new corvette is a corvette
because whoever make it say so.
Again you're being very stupid and you are treating manufacturers as though
they are gods. The fact that a manufacturer gives a product a specific name
merely means that is what the manufacturer thinks is a suitably descriptive
name. However, other people will have their own thoughts on whether the
description is really suitable and, at least here in the UK, the
manufacturer can be taken to court if the Trading Standards people believe
they are duping the public. Personally I think Microsoft are sailing very
close to the wind and are being more than a little dishonest calling their
dotnet offering by the name Visual Basic, and so do a lot of other people.
Fortunately for Microsoft, though, they are in the position of being
supremely rich and, at least in America, thereby partially isolated from
reality.
The FACT is the new corvette is a corvette
because whoever make it say so.
Here we go again ;-) If the manufacturers of the Corvette decided to
produce a pork and salami sausage and place it in their car showrooms under
the name "Corvette" would you pay thousands of dollars for one? And would
you attempt to drive it home? No wonder the people at work are looking at
you funny.
Mike
