I think there's a distinction to be made between
I've got the old DOS PowerQuest tools and really like them
For XP I bought their later DriveImage and its backup on the fly
facility has me bricking it - it works but it is so dangerous.
I used to worship Norton/Symantec, but after their Windows stuff
totally trashed a machine, I really want nothing to do with them
Norton and Symantec. Peter Norton made a utility.
Symantec is just a company that buys other people's
products after they get a reputation and then cashes
in.
Actually, I put Symantec in the same category as
Microsoft: I still use some of their software (Norton Utilities
on Win98), but I'd be surprised if I ever again buy any of
their software.
We've been very happy with Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition, though
I've had trouble (as have many others, from what I've read) with the
Norton Antivirus and Norton Systemworks stuff. So they're not the same,
even though they are from the same company.
