IE7 please.
It's just a single Registry setting. You can download
a script here that will do the job:
http://www.jsware.net/jsware/zips/stopie7.zip
Just to add a note I now have FireFox, and all is working well
Note that v. 1.5.0.9 has some advantages over
v. 2. The ability to block 3rd-party cookies and
images was removed from the settings window
in v. 2. you can still access those settings with
a custom user.js file (a la Netscape) but they're
no longer available at civilian level.
Also (and this explains why the 3rd-party cookie
blocking is gone...) if you use the silly "phishing
filter" in v. 2 in default mode, you're likely to be tracked
online by Google cookies everywhere you go. The
filter checks with Google for website validity and Google
sets a cookie.
It just so happens that Google is now
the major funder of Mozilla, through the
program to pay them for setting the default
search to Google. So if you use IE7 you're
likely to be tracked by the Microsoft phishing
filter, and if you use Firefox 2 without turning
off the filter you'll be tracked by Google. The
campaign to perfect targetted advertising is
getting fierce.
