VB6 SP6 on Vista RTM Test Results

VB6 SP6 Test Result on Windows Vista RTM Build 6000


Installation:
1. Install VB as usual,
2. After installed run VB6 as a admin by right clicking the VB6
shortcut and selecting "Run as Administrator" this will completely
writes the registry entry
3. Install Service Packs and repeat the step 2


Controls Tests:
Windows Common Control 5: there are working find, to apply Vista style
to them just include the manifest file and call the InitCommonControls
API

IE Control: Its is working in find only difference is that now the fine
name is IEFrame.dll


Known Issues:
1. Redraw problem when dragging & resizing controls, you will face
redraw problem when dragging the controls or resizing them but only if
you are using windows aero interface, it works fine under "Windows
Vista Basic" and "Windows Standards"
Solution: change windows theme to "Windows Vista Basic" or "Windows
Standards"

2. Regsvr32 failed to register controls: regsvr32 will failed to
register control if user account control is turned on, its turned on by
default
Solution: turn off user account protection by going to control panel >
user accounts > Turn User Account Control On or off > select uncheck
and reboot computer


Running VB6 Correctly:
To correctly run VB6 run VB6 as an admin, if though you account type if
administrator the application are lunched as basic users only, so run
VB6 as administrator.
1. Turn off user account protection by going to control panel > user
accounts > Turn User Account Control On or Off > select uncheck and
reboot computer
2. Create a VB6 shortcut to desktop > right click > advanced > check
'run as administrator' and use this shortcut to open VB6 every time you
need.
