Re: dll version, possible from VB? Solved

: Ads? Oh, that's so 20th century. :)

;-)

: With no script, no cookies, no animated GIFs, and no flash
: - combined with using a HOSTS file - I rarely see ads. A
: great deal of them are coming from ads.doubleclick.com.
:
: Just having a HOSTS file that blocks that alone will reduce
: ads dramatically (and reduce the chance of Doubleclick
: looking over one's shoulder via tracking beacon ads and
: GIFs).

HOSTS files are such 20th century... <g>

: (I'm using K-Meleon and generally never enable script. I've also
: found that Experts Exchange works fine in Firefox.)

As for a browser, K-Meleon runs swell. Thanks for pointing
that out. I like it.

As for Firefox, I'm sticking with version 1.0x myself. I didn't
like the changes in 1.5.

:: NoScript... http://www.noscript.net/whats
:: WebDeveloper... http://chrispederick.com/work/webdeveloper/
:: Google PR... http://www.tapouillo.com/firefox_extension/

: I'll have to check those out. Though Google is starting to give
: me the creeps with their privacy intrusions. I won't install
: anything from them.

Commercial enterprises seem involved with Firefox. I convinced
myself of that when version 1.5 showed up. A lot of the builtin
integration indicates Microsoft's and other companies involvement.

Microsoft pays someone to secure Microsoft interests, Apple pays
someone to make sure Apple's interests get satisfied, Google pays
likewise... commercial saboteurs. **it happens. People working for
big companies make good money to do what they do. Money talks
and ignorance is bliss.

: * The anti-phishing nonsense is very worrisome to me.

AdSense is an expense for Google. AdWords represent income for
Google. Anyone can sign up to AdSense and place google ads on
their website and try to get some extra income when folks click
through those links. On the other hand, AdWords are the pay through
click things that show up on the right side of the Google search results.
People _pay_ Google when those get clicked...

AdWord click fraud this year...

: And yet, I haven't seen any major online commentators even
: mention this radical new intrusion. They all seem to just accept
: the phishing filter concept as a great idea.

The way I'm seeing it, is that Google and the United States
Government are in bed together. Bush recently didn't say
anything about Google decided to keep photos of child porn
molesters out the hands of investigaters. Was Bush on that list?
The FBI will never tell.

Google presses it as a PRIVACY issue, protecting the child
molestors. They do track such things and monitor such things.
Then they hide the details about child molestors and proclaim
they protect "privacy". The link below discusses Google's
ownership of orkut.com and how they "help" pedophiles.

There's no privacy on the Internet, the Internet is a public thing!

Google protecting pedophiles and promoting and publicly
displaying child pornography... They OWN orkut.com.

Some folks in the mozilla newsgroup tend to come across as spooky
and arrogant (news: news.mozilla.org).

Who owns Firefox? Here's my list...

Microsoft/MSDN,
Google,
Yahoo,
America Online/CNN/TimeWarner,
Amazon,
Adobe,
Apple,
MacroMedia,
Fox,
and the United States Government

Which one controls it? Hard to say, but I see Microsoft and Google
as holding probably the biggest interest.
