Re: Log Phone Calls

First of all thanks to all those who contributed.

The device's information indicates the following

The device uses Db25 (both ends) serial cable to print directly to a 25pin
serial printer.
Once connected the printer prints data from the device each time a call is
made or received. So (I thought I) could capture the data sent to the
printer by connecting the device to my pc COM port.

In that I would have to get a 25/9 pin serial cable to be able to connect
the (9PIN end) to my com port and the 25pin end to the device. Is there any
problem with using this kind of cable... just want to know before I go to
buy one.

Again , thanks very much

I have a device ( Norstar SMDR6)... this device detects incoming and
outgoing calls and prints the information (caller number, number called,
time start, time end etc) on a dot matrix printer. The device connects to
the dot matrix printer LPT port using 12/13 pin cable. What I would like to
do is connect the device to my computer (LPT port) and then log the info in
my system. My question is it possible to use Vb6(SP5) to do this? Pointers,
website, tutorials, drill sergent would be highly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.
