I have a client that wants to convert a VB3 project to one of the latest versions of VB.
The main reason for this is because the programs will not run on fast computers.
I'd like to hear any ideas about whether we should attempt this or not, go to VB6 firstWhatever you do is going to be fun, as others have commented, but let me ask you two Killer Questions to start with ...
1) are your VB3 projects saved in "binary" format?
2) Do you still have a copy of VB3 lying around?
If the answers to the above are "Yes" and "No" then give up now.
The "binary" file format disappeared along with VB3 itself. /Every/ version of VB since uses "text" format and /only/ VB3 can read the "binary" one (and re-save it as text).
can we do it on a one module at a time basis (I'm not saying this part> is possible, i'm not a guru).
No - you'd have to upgrade the entire application in one go.
