Thanks, but since the problem is specific to this App, and then only visible
in one module, I think I'll leave any reinstall of win out of it

An app from a developer is producing an error on my win2k sp4 sys, in
that
in certain circumstances it terminates with a Second Chance Exception in
MSVBM60.dll (v6.0.97.82)
The developer is unable to replicate the problem, nor do other users see

I explicitly set DrWatson as the debugger using the i switch, and got
the
notification it was set.
(The reg entries appear correct)
However after the error no DrWatson text log or dmp file is produced.
Is there anything else I can try?

Since you are the only one this happened to, try re-installing Windows.
Perhaps there was something corrupted in the OS. You can try the following
method; however, you have to reinstall all programs. The easiest way to
reinstall a clean copy of Windows 2000/XP without formatting is to take
the
hard drive, put it in another computer, and rename the following folders
to
something else:

Documents and Settings
Program Files
Windows or WINNT

Name them as "OldDocs", "OldProgramFiles" and "OldWINNT". After that, take
the drive back to the original computer and reinstall the OS. It's very
important that you select "Leave the current file system intact" at the
beginning of the setup. Also, Windows will detect OldWINNT folder and asks
you if you want to install the OS there, say no, and edit "OldWINNT" to
"WINNT". That's it.

The advantage of this method is that you don't lose any files, including
"My
Documents". You also have a fresh copy of the registry and drivers, so
prior
problems will not appear. Also, if the new install doesn't solve the
problem, you can rename the folders back, and regain all your programs and
settings, but this has to be done on a second computer, as you can't
rename
the 3 folders above if the OS uses them.

After you reinstall the OS, you could still see your documents at:

C:\OldDocs\<USERNAME>\My Documents

You also don't lose any files from the old "Program Files" in case you
have
some files saved there. You will find them under "OldProgramFiles". The
same
is true for other folders that are subfolders of "C:\" drive. The OS
doesn't
touch them when you select "Leave the current file system intact". I have
done this to XP without issues, although I used 2 drives instead of using
a
second computer. It maybe possible to do this on the same drive, check
this
article that lets you boot an NT computer; however, if you rename the
folders, you may not be able to rename them back without the help of a
second drive/partition/computer.
