Also, try creating a shortcut on the desktop, then enable the
compatibility

I already tried something like that by moving the full CD file structure
onto one of my hard drives then setting the compatibility box for the
startup.exe

The last choice, is reinstalling XP.

I've considered this, don't much like the option, not too bad at this point
since I'm just setting the machine up at this point. I worry that MS will
give me static when I try to reinstall XP and Office though.

One person said something about a too large temp file causing this kind of
error but I can't see how that could be the case.
