Andre,

Don't confuse language issues with library issues.

The core problem with VB.Net is that the language itself is changed. That's without even looking at libraries. Code matters, and it matters a lot more than libs and visual interfaces.

Sorry, I have to disagree. We had a large C++ project using (heavily) VCL. When from one day to another Borland decided to drop the VCL for C++ and using another framework. Since the whole code was using VCL we couldn't use the code anymore with the C++ compiler not supporting VCL. Even if the language has not changed, we weren't able to use the code anymore.
So what's the difference to language changes ? (For code not using the framework I know the answer, but code using the framework ?)

Borland has reverted their decision and are now supporting VCL again.

It's also the wrong newsgroup for such discussions, but perhaps it's not a bad thing for the Borland IDE to be sold to a single company, which only has a focus on the IDE itself.
The above statement does not apply to Delphi, only to the C++ IDE of Borland.

To dispell another bad bit of info, someone earlier said they understood why VB had to change... it didn't have to change except in finalization, which isn't really a language item as much as a platform item.

IIRC VB6 has only to be changed for a single issue. So I would agree that so many changes wouldn't have been necessary.
