Saga,
Where I live those RFID tags are already used for slightly more than just
store-exit detection. If I pop into my local Tesco and take a box of
Gillette Mach III blades off the shelf, the RFID chip built into the plastic
cover will have me followed right round the store, pace by pace. Apparently
it's a "security" measure (on the basis that an organized criminal would
smash the virtally indescructible platic cover off a bunch of safety razors
in order to rob a till with a couple of used notes in it, or something) and
some shops are planning to extend this outside their premises. Next, in
particular, said they planned to be able to track their goods (in *your*
legal posession) right the way to your home. And little black boxes seem to
be springing up on every other lamp-post...
Frankly, RFID scares me. They should have just stuck with those little
magnetic coils.
Cheers,
Tony.
