k, I can't resit - here's mine.
Also, back in the days when DOS was king and Windows was just
a screen of files, I had this friend that worked in maintenance. He
knew that I usually brought along a snack (ie Twinkies) and he
would hide them from me at times, so I decided to get back at
him. I did a chkdsk on his Cdrive and jotted down all the data
down down.
I then went to my desk, and made a small assembly language
program that would display the exact sequence of text as
though the disk was being formatted, like:
C>format c:
Are you sure you want to format xyz? Y
Formatting ....
Disk has been formatted
All disk info here
C>
When he saw this his face lost all expression. I feared that he
might have a cardiac arrest so I told him to type something in.
As soon as he pressed a key the program displayed the message
"Gottcha!" (or something to that effect).
Just seeing his expression was "priceless!". <eg>
