An excellent question and one that hopefully you can sound out before or
very early into the interview.

The most difficult job seeking experience is dealing with a group in
transition. This has always been the case (ISAM to Relational, C to C++,
Unix to Windows, ...). The problem is often the hiring entity (committee or
individual) becomes muddled between what they think they 'need' and what
they think they would 'like'.

Ask them - "If I showed up tomorrow, what would I be doing?" If they say you
will be writing .net script. Then thank them and leave. If they say
something you know how to do - say "Great! Here is what I can do for
you....", brush aside the future.

If they are adamant about the .net, thank them for their time and leave.
Don't knock yourself about it too much. Being a square peg in a round hole,
is just as painful for the peg as it is for the hole. <g>
