Well, I DO apologise. To you and to everyone else I've probably offended.
Profoundly.
But I also think that Larry, whose snide attempt to slap down my attempt at
leveraging a technology that is new to me *especially* when he was one of
the main participants in that recent >80-post thread solely about the
wonders of XML that had many good participants, and so knows better than
anyone here that there are lots of people who know their stuff about XML
should be the one apologising to ME, especially when he never makes ANY
other response to my questions.
I'm still *really* fuming. Through not being able to use XML in this
particular project, he's potentially knocked quite a bit off my value. Not
that I should be *relying* on newsgroups to do my projects or to increase my
value - but if he didn't exist I may have been able to, and it's that I
can't stand.
When he starts making at least *some* positive contribution to ANY of the
threads I'm involved in, I'm not asking a lot - just a bit - then I'll be
prepared to accept that he's a reasonable man, just a bit sceptical of those
with a fiery temper. But I don't see that day yet...
I'm not asking him to complement me or agree with me or anything - ANY
discussion whatsoever, rather than being either blanked or slapped down. He
seems of the belief that this newsgroup has a hierarchical structure - with
the longer you've been a respected helper of newbies, the higher up it you
are - then there are the newbies that are just on the floor with the
"trolls" like me. Well I'm sorry but I have got absolutely NOTHING to prove
to the likes of Larry Serflaten, any more than he has to me. This newsgroup
is NOT hierarchical, and I am NOT a troll - a troll is someone who only goes
on specifically to cause misery, I spend far too much time on it for that to
be the case. I am NOT on a "lower level", or "yet to be respected". I have
as much respect as I want. I only ask that people remain intelligent, and if
they see a post from me or anyone else they don't like, don't take it
personally JUST *IGNORE IT*!

Sorry for going on but I felt it had to be said and I'm standing my ground
on this one, because a bit of give and take is always necessary. And I feel
like I've been giving continuously for the past month or so, and when I try
and take for *one day*, I get slapped down. Well I'm not having it.
But I certainly *don't* lump everyone in one basket like I used to - I
realise that there are newsgroup members (like you Rick) who are members of
"the elite" of the newsgroup that Larry so wishes he was also a member of -
but that are also sound, sound people, and obviously intelligent far beyond
the realms of VB. There are also people who are just run of the mill posters
and repliers, who just ignore anything including my posts that they don't
like. As they should! and these people are therefore sound also, so I extend
my apology for any offence caused to the newsgroup in general to them
aswell, and wish them and you well.

To answer your original question, I HAVE posted my question the the XML
newsgroups. I will check them for replies.
