I would say that any version will give you the reporting tools that
you need to incorporate into your app, although the app's
requirements and usage should dictate this. I gather that by "version"
you mean either "Crystal Reports" or "Crystal Enterprise". If you
refer to the product version, as in CR9 or CR10, then either
version is feasible, althought if you are starting freash, then it
is a good idea to get the latest one.
As for licensing, the most basic solution to this is that whatever the
Installer packages by default is ok to distribute, as it only packages
the app's dependencies and those are ok to redistribute, assuming that
your app just uses CR to display/print reports using the customary tools.
I emphasize "most basic", meaning that your app only uses the CR
Library, control or viewer.
