I was thinking to go to the Java route. (I used to be pretty good with
But Bill Gate smashed it like a bug, it was not fun doing Java anymore.
Just to be clear, in case anyone else is reading this thread, Billy didn't
smash Java on Windows. Sun did.
M$'s Java Runtime ran circles around Sun's. Thanks in part to MS's advanced
knowledge with VMs (the VB runtime). Java's basic AWL was a poor fit for
Windows, and MS was well on their way of making J++ the Java of choice for
Windows. Then Sun won the suite and Billy took his ball and went home. <g>
In Sun's defense - they probably had to do it. MS would likely 'own' Java by
now if they hadn't. But that is a poor excuse for Sun to never come up with
their own ball. They had an opportunity - but sat on it. Just like they have
with Java in general.
