Nope Michael
# Develop has an ide and you can compile from it
if you want to switch to a free IDE # develop is pretty good
And you do not need anything more as the standard .Net requirments ( ADO ,
IE and framework )

I am currently running VB6 from Visual Studio 6 Enterprise Edition. I'm
in the middle of a download from Microsoft for the .NET Framework Version
2.0 Redistributable Package. What difference will that make, if any?
Where do I go to get, in a nutshell, information about what I'm getting
myself into? Oops! That massive file just finished downloading. I have
about a dozen other files I need to download, but I have no idea if this
will even work. I suppose I also need to learn a new language to get into
the .NET thing. Too complicated! I need to have somebody break it down
for me. Am I replacing my old Visual Studio for something new and
different? I feel old and retarded. What's so great about .NET?
Somebody please give me a clue. :-) I'm going in a zillion directions,
and I beg forgiveness for my scatterbrained approach here. I'm trying to
install #develop but I needed to get the .NET framework first. I don't
even know what I'm doing.
When you download the free version I don't think you get an IDE at all. it
might be easier to purchase one of the express versions, they are cheap
and easy. Doing it all for free is more complicated I believe, you need to
use command lines to compile etc.
