There appears to be numerous issues with sharing a file on a Vista. So

MS has been silent on all of them. (They will take your money - but
you'll
never hear back.) It only gets worse when you attempt to access a Vista

from another Vista box.

So to answer the immediate question - "How do I get my app on XP to
update?"
Move the mdb file to an XP or Win2003 Server.

We have found Vista is NOT ready for prime time.

Ralph,

We finnaly figured it out. When we placed the db in the public folder,
somehow the owner was System. When we made Everybody Co-owner, it would
not
allow updates. By chance we copied it again to the Public folder. This
time
the owner was Administrator. Then, when we mage Everybody Co-owner,
updates
worked fine.

I agree, Vista's a pain.

Glad you got it working.

Many thanks for the feedback. I truly appreciate it.

It is going into the notebook for future reference. I have decided to stay
back with the wagons until all the scouts have reported in. <g>
