Re: Accpac Plus Data by MsAccess

Hello,

<http://kb.nitix.com/2472>

This page link seems to imply the source databases are either
Btrieve/Xtrieve or DB2.
You should be able to derive the table and field layout ofmr the data
dictionary, and with Xtrieve or DB2 interface drivers, your should be able
to pull teh data.

Depending upon the purpose of your target db, you can either simply rebuild,
or add a date/time field to compare for update or insert handling.

Good luck!
David

You need to contact Accpac... I think they are now called Sage Accpac. They

usually assist programmers that want to interface to their
database/application. Usually they would give some kind of data(base)
dictionary.

Accpac has approximately 9 tables in each of its modules (AP AR +++ ) and

I
would like to obtain the data from each of these tables with their field
names for use in MsAccess.

Yes, we can export ONE table from each Accpac program (AR = Customers /

AP
= Vendors) in many different configurations like delimited, which
MsAccess
can read, BUT we cannot receive the field names or other tables.

We want to continually receive data from Accpac through MsAccess as this
data will be used for information that will be supplied to a website
store.

Thank you for your very interesting questions.

Mehran,

These sort of questions can sometimes leave a lot to the assumption of
the
reader/respondent, which is not always correct.

I've never heard of Accpac but you have said 'to obtain individual table
details from Accpac....'. So, Accpac creates it's own tables. Let's
assume
that because it's a DOS-based program then the table is a delimited data
array. MS Access allows for importation of delimited datasets therefore
this
may be one option. Are you intending or looking for a one-off database
creation from your accounts package or are you looking at a way for
access
to continually 'automatically' update from the source files (ie. the
delimited (assumption I know) data)??

Maybe we need some more info!

Regards, Phil

We would like to create an MsAccess.Mdb in office 2000 to obtain
individual
table details from Accpac Plus in Dos (an accounting program)?

Can we receive any ideas or a sample database of how to do this?

Thank you

Mehran
