Excuse me for the multi post but the subject of my question was related to
both groups (MSDE & VB).
Best regards
What he meant to point out was you should have 'cross-posted' instead of
'multi-posted'.
If you are unaware of the differences just Google these groups with the
words "multi-post cross-post bad".
Here is Ken's useful description...
"To crosspost, you place multiple groups in the Newsgroups line in Outlook
Express. Exactly the same as sending an email to more than one person. It's
GroupName1 followed by a comma or semi-colon followed by GroupName2 and so
on. Actually, iirc, in Outlook Express, you can click the NewsGroups button
while typing a question and all groups you've subscribed to will show and
you'll be given directional buttons to add/remove from the crosspost list."
"If you crosspost, all answers to your question will show in all groups in
the crosspost list. That makes it much easier for you to find your answer...
you don't need to visit each group to check for answers.. any group in the
list will have them (if they're there). Not only that but it also gets you
better answers."
"If someone in GroupName1 disagrees with the answer you recv'd in
GroupName2, they'll add to the thread. All answers will show in any of the
groups in the list."
"On the other hand, if you multipost (bad... very bad..), you may get a good
answer but there's a chance that some bozo in GroupName1 is giving you a bad
or incomplete answer and you'll end up discussing the problem with them. If
that's the first answer you see, there's also a chance you won't even visit
GroupName2 to look for answers. That means that the people trying to help in
GroupName2 have wasted their time (you'll never see their answers)... which
is a major offense around here as no one's getting paid to answer questions.
We're just here trying to help out."
"Crossposting is the way to go."
It is more more difficult to do in some newsreaders (especially web-based)
than others. But if you intend to use this media often you should get a good
reader.
