Best Book(s) to Learn Basic in Visual Studio .Net 2003 ?

I have an Access 97 database that I want to use in Visual Basic
(and later be able to distribute an EXE with the file) and have
Visual Studio .Net 2003 Professional, which I have never used
My general understanding is that the Visual Basic part of the
programming suite WILL create programs to run on a computer (I
am not interested in the "net" programming) so I have 3 Q's
1st, am I correct that VB.net 2003 will, in fact, work to make
a program that runs on a computer?
2nd, does VB.net 2003 include everything I need to be able to
read/write an Access database?
3rd, please recommend some good beginner-to-intermediate books
on Visual Basic programming in general, and some books to
also learn how to use Visual Studio .Net
Note - I do not have ANY books for Visual Studio .Net since my
computer is part of an education network and I have the
suite installed but no books at all
Thanks, John
