Export File Size

I am using VB.NET 2005 with the integrated version of CR, with Office 2007, running on Vista Business.

I have a 3 page report that I am generating, exporting as a .doc file and attaching to an email. When I do all of this from my application I get a 23MB file, when I preview the report in the designer and export it I get a 2MB file, and finally if I open up the 23MB file and just re-save it it goes down to about 200kb. Is there some way that I can get the 200kb file from my original export. I can't believe that the export engine in CR would be that inefficient.

Thanks.
