don't you just hate that kind of cutesy crap ?
Thanks - but if its another thing that has to be purchased, distributed,
installed, configured then i'm not interested.
I found a reporting component on codeproject that supports graphic file
export format options - i'm looking into that as a replacement for CR.
Maybe you should get a better Newsreader, too so you don't toppost. :)
and the newsreader has what to do with posting style ?
In all seriousness, if you're not locked into CR, then I'd highly suggest
DataVision.
http://datavision.sourceforge.net/
Like Crystal, it can read from any ODBC/JDBC source
Unlike Crystal, it is open source so you can see the code.
It writes files to a standard XML format not some proprietary format.
It can export to PDF, HTML, LaTeX...
It is free.
It can run on Linux, MacOS, BSD or Wintendo.
Essentially you're getting all you want from a report writer without being
sucked into the black hole of MS licensing.
thanks again but no thanks - I personally don't see the java dependancy or
an extra dev tool or external reporting system as any kind of advantage.
what MS licensing issues do you perceive to exist regarding CR ?
besides , this still doesn't solve my problem as DV can't export/save as a
graphic image either
