Reducing number of reports.

I have some 100+ reports for a particular application. But I feel this is
not a good approach for generating reports.
What is recommended method to generate reports at run time ,which will be
specific to a user.
I meant to have onnly one report which simply ask for the parameter and
then depending on the parameter we will try to generate header groups
records etc I mean customizing the report.
