Re: vb6 versus vb.net

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi everyone:

I have been writing code in vb6.0 for a while, and I have quite a few large
projects. None of the projects involve the internet. They are similar to
excel and such stand-alone packages. Now, does nayone know:

1- Is there any advantage for me to move to VB.net. I would rather not if I
do not have too as VB.Net is completely different and would take me a long
time to learn and import my projects.

For what it's worth I love dotnet. However, it's far too
much work to convert all my VB6 code. The main advantage I
guess is that you will be prepared when\if VB6 programs are
not supported by a future OS - but I doubt this will happen
for a very long time.

2- Even though Microsoft no longer supports VB6.0, would codes written in VB
6.0 still run fine without any problems under Windows XP or Vista?

Yes, although your program may need some tweeks to work
under Vista but generally I've encountered few problems.
