I am using the DIRLISTBOX in VB 6..Need it to show hidden directories.
Please....TIA
I am trying to write a program that will let me select files and or
directories for back up. Some of the source locations will be hidden
or system areas. The destination will be an un mapped location on a
network share. I will need to be able to select the share via controls
similar to the Drive,Dir,File list boxes. Can't use Common Dialog as
the authors of it did not have enough common since to let it be used
for Dir location only selection etc. I will want to be able to control
the default starting point for source and destination searches at run
time. I will want to list the source selections in something like a
listview or a DBGrid. Then allow the user to change or delete the
selected sources and destination. Once the items have been setup, I
want to store the info in a file which can be read by another program
which will do the actual backup via a single click. I am finding that
Microsoft left out some very very important, and to me, obviously
needed tools for complete manipulation of the selection and displaying
of the files and directories in the file system.
I would appreciate any and all help/suggestions as to what controls to
use, how to set them up, how to set up the display and editing of the
selections. I did some VB 3.0 programming in the old days but it has
been many years since then, and my skills are rusty.( I took a 2
semester course in it) I am also new to VB6. I have NO MONEY for
controls that are not 100% FREE with no royalty fee's for
distribution. This app is going to be used in house, and if good
enough, released as freeware some day down the road.
In some ways I may be "re-inventing the wheel" but I thought this
would be a good app for all the tech's where I work to use to help the
users get their data protected, and for me to get my feet wet writing
useful utility apps in VB6. This app will be use in an XP and 2K
environment.
Thanks to all who take the time to read this even if you can't help
me,
Ralph Malph
