Hi Lionel:
Hi Lionel,I checked the following things
1)MOSS_SETUP_FARM is member of Farm Admins group
2)MOSS_SETUP_FARM is a dbo on the config database.
3)The shared folder \\mosswfe2\sspbak is accessible from both dbserver and
mosswfe1 (2nd sharepoint server)
4) when trying to backup ssp from CA page,i specified the UNC path the
following ways.. \\mosswfe2\sspbak,\\mosswfe2.outside.aaas.org\sspbak and
mosswfe2.aaas.org\sspbak and getting the same error mentioned in previous
post.No spbackup.log file was created in that directory.
5) in event viewer i get this

Hello Shah,.
Thanks for your feedback.
Based on your latest reply, I understand the updates of this issue are as
follows:
You have checked the account used to backup the SSPs. The account is named
MOSS_SETUP_FARM. The account has the permissions as below:
Local administrators of both SharePoint servers;
Dbcreator, security admin roles in the database server;
Dbowner role on in the content database and SSP databases;
Full Control permission to the shared folder (\\mosswfe2\sspbak).
You have tried to backup the SSPs in the Central Administration site hosted
on the server mosswfe1. The process failed with the following error
message:
"Directory \\mosswfe2\sspbak does not exist or the SQL Server service
account and the OUTSIDE\MOSS_SETUP_FARM service account do not have
permission to read or write to the backup folder. Specify a different
directory."
According to the error message and the information you give, we need to
check the issue using the following steps:
1. As the account used to backup the SSPs must be a member of the Farm
Administrators group, please check if MOSS_SETUP_FARM is a farm
administrator.
Although the MOSS_SETUP_FARM account acts dbowner roles of all the content
databases and SSP databases, please note that the Full Control permission
level on the SharePoint configuration database is also required. To have
this permission, the account must be a member of the Farm Administrators
group.
2. If the issue still persists after Step 1, we need to check the backup
logs to find more clues. The backup log is named spbackup.log at the UNC
path you specified during the backup configuration. Please include the
related information in the log file in your follow-up post.
I'd like to provide further assistance once I receive the response from
you. Thanks for all your cooperation and patience again.
Best Regards,
Lionel Chen
