Re: WSS 2 to WSS 3 migration error

Thanks for your response Peter. I know this is a dumb question, but how
would I grant access to the user? I've done the migration a few times to a
win2003 box running v3, but not to a 2008 box. I don't think that is the
issue...I'm guessing a patch was released that changed the behaviour. I'm
logged in under an account that has admin on the server itself, I thought
that granted me access to the DB. Yes, it's obvious I don't know much about
SQL server or in this case Windows internal DB. I was surprised because this
was not an issue for me in the past.

Thanks for any information.

Hello,

I'm migrating from WSS 2 on Win2003 to WSS 3 on Win2008. When I run
the following:

sqlcmd -S \\.\pipe\mssql$microsoft##ssee\sql\query -E

I get this error:

Msg 18456, Level 14, State 1, Server GRANGER\MICROSOFT##SSEE, Line 1
Login failed for user 'XX\xxxxxxxxx'.

How can I fix this?

Maybe you can try another Windowsuser. It is possible that your account
is not allowed to work with the database.
