Re: WSS deployment over Internet

Hi Per,

Thanks for your reply. That's a very valid direction and I will research on
creating custom provider for combining both FBA and AD.
However, if I go with 2 site solution. Do you see any problem with both
sites being on FBA and both on internet?

Hi Prabhash

Be aware that I haven't tested the following.

If your client wants/accepts that both AD and DB users go though the FBA login screen, then it should be possible to
implement a custom MemberShip provider which delegates the real work to the two standard ASP.NET providers.

I have been asked to implement a project in WSS 3.0. This application has to

a) both AD and Database users should anter the site through Form based
authentication.
b) He wants that AD users should also be allowed to login to the site with
their AD credintials only from Internet as well.

I did a lot of research on net and found that we will have to maintain two
sites (one main and other one extended from the main site with a different
authentication provider). Is this correct? Or I can have one single site
that allows both AD and Db users?

Now assuming two sites...
So for eg ...

http://myapp.mydomain.com/ext/login.aspx – for extranet (Database users)

http://myapp.mydomain.com/int/login.aspx - for AD users

Both sites are on internet.

Do I need to create the AD users site as Default and extend Extranet for DB
Users?

I will be really greatful if someone could suggest the right way to approach
this situation.

Thanks in Adance.
