Hi Laurent.
I finally realized that it was a firewall issue after all :-( you were right about that :-) and now I can access the web site perfectly from LAN and WAN.
What I would be needing right now is to know how can I set up another user as an administrator for the central admin application. I created a new one, added to the owners and farm admin groups, but then I try to create a new application, there is no option in the list, but when I access the list with the original administrator (the one with which I installed WSS, the option is back again). What permission do I need to allow a user to create web applications?
Thanks.
Regards,
Cesar.

on which port do you try to access to your site from LAN ?
Did you choose yourself the port 5000 ? Does you website running on this port ?

Yes, I already checked the firewall. I tried to turn it off, and also leave it on for that the installation could open the ports it needs, but either way, it keeps not working at all.
After my first post I also tried to access from another computer in the same LAN, and I don't have access from that one either, so no problem of router nor firewall :-(
The problem with the tunneling is then that it won't work because even in the same LAN, I don't have access to the site. Any suggestions?
Thanks again in advance

Cesar.

I know you should already done this but...do you checked to the windows firewall ? It may be dumb but worth asking ;)
Personally I have choose the easy way : installing SSH server and tunneling port to access from the outside using secure connection. It works fine.
Maybe......just try this :
> Zone: Internet
> Internal URL: http://mycomputername(or local ip address):50000
> Public URL for Zone: http://mydomain.dyndns.com:50000

> Public URL for Zone: http://mycomputername:50000
If it helped you....

Laurent
Cesar a écrit :Hi people.
I need to set up a WSS 3.0 SP1 on a Win2008 Server, which is not a domain controller and it's not joined to a domain either.
I could install WSS on it, and set up a site properly, but can't manage to access it from the internet.
I have set up AAM so its Internet Zone is configured like this:
Zone: Internet
Internal URL: http://mydomain.dyndns.com:50000
Public URL for Zone: http://mydomain.dyndns.com:50000
The default zone is like this:
Internal URL: http://mycomputername:50000
Public URL for Zone: http://mycomputername:50000
But even with this done I can't access from outside (another PC through the Internet, for instance).
I have configured my router so the server is in the DMZ, I tried to telnet some other services and I do can connect to them, but cannot connect to any Sharepoint application.
What am I missing here?
Please, let me know if you need additional information.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Cesar.
