\viewkind4\uc1\pard\lang2052\f0\fs20 Hi Bruce,
\par
\par Sorry for the typo mistake.
\par
\par Yes, for the regional setting, it cannot control detailed date format(like the operating system's date/time setting does). The reason why the operating system's regional setting doesn't control the WSS's date format(when the two setting matches) is that sharepoint use .NET framework Culture/formatting info which is separated from windows operating system.
\par
\par So far, for customzing the date display format in list column, there are some solution that use a calculated column to display the customized date format. Here is a web thread mentioned this:
\par
\par #Change Date Format of Site Column

\par Subject: Re: Data Format on SharePoint pages - how to set
\par Date: Tue, 25 Nov 2008 17:16:01 -0800
\par
\par
\par My name is Bruce, not Brian.
\par
\par There is no setting on either the site or personal SharePoint Regional
\par Settings for specifically setting the date format, just the "locale".
\par
\par As I stated in my original post, I've set the Regional Settings for the site
\par to English (Canada) locale. On all servers and client computers, the
\par Control Panel, Regional and Language Options are set to locale: English
\par (Canada) with the Short Date Format set to dd/mmm/yyyy (notice the three m's
\par to specify month name abbreviation), but the date is always shown on
\par SharePoint pages as dd/mm/yyyy (e.g. in document lists) - notice the two m's
\par for month number.
\par
\par What I specifically want is to make the date always show a Month
\par Abbreviation (e.g. Nov), but I can not find any setting anywhere that does
\par that.
\par
\par When English (Canada) is the locale for the site, dates show as dd/mm/yyyy.
\par When English(United States) is the locale for the site, dates show as
\par mm/dd/yyyy.
\par
\par As far as I'm concerned, neither of these is acceptable - they are
\par ambiguous - I should be able to tell SharePoint to always show the month
\par abbreviation. I can do this in Windows and all MS Office applications, so
\par it is very frustrating not to be able to do this with SharePoint.
\par
\par Why doesn't SharePoint use the settings from the Control Panel, Regional and
\par Language Options, Customize this format, Date, Short Date Format? This
\par setting is in Windows specifically so that one can specify the Date Format
\par one wants, but SharePoint is ignoring it.
\par
\par Please, exactly what steps are required to make SharePoint (V3 or MOSS 2007)
\par show dates with the month abbreviation instead of the month number?
