Re: OK this may be stupid....

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

After you make your document changes try hitting Ctrl+F5. Unfortunately IE
caches downloads (your documents). That "might" force it to pull new info.

Are you able to edit the front end?

Not sure about IE7 or even IE6 but you used to be able to turn the cache off
completely. But that might cause your network traffic to sky rocket. That
would completely depend on how you do things on your end.

Yes a user may need to see an amended document in less than an hour... a
for
instance...

we have a document that outlines a process problem... we have a meeting
scheduled to discuss the process problem... I open the document... prior
to
the meeting... (for my own review)... we have the meeting... (it lasts 15
minutes) the moderator of the meeting goes into the document to add
assignements and notes from the meeting... I want to reveiw what he has
added... but all I see is the previously cached document... any ideas on
how
to force the system to not cache...

I did mean a bit longer. Long enough for the cache to have something
else in it.

Stupid answer (!) Wait a bit longer before you go back and re-open the
document.

No, really. The only problem is that you don't believe the change has
been made. If you did believe the change has been made (and now you
do)
then you would only open the document again the next time you wanted
to
amend it - and guess what, then you'd see your amended version.
