That was it. Thanks.

Hi Marc,.
Have you got the WebClient service started on your 2003 box? If not, start
it and try accessing again (you may need a reboot - but I have found that
this is not always needed).
Cheers

I am having the same issue. I can copy files from the command line on my
Windows XP desktop all day long to a Document Library, but If I try to do the
same thing on Windows Server 2003, I get an error message that it can't find
the UNC directory. This is not a permissions issue, because a log into both
the Windows XP desktop and the Windows Server 2003 with the same credentials.
Any assistance on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

My network places, & Explorer view all act the same (end up opening windows
explorer), and give the error.
I need to access it via Explorer because I am adding files via a batch file
(simple copy)

What if you create an entry in "My Network Places" on the server and
then use that ?
and of course why not just access the site and use Explorer View?

Hi Mike,
I am opening Windows Explorer and typing something like
"\\insight\it\Development\Shared Documents" into the address bar.
This then displays the contents of the 'Shared Documents' document library -
ie I can see all of my docs.
If I try to copy one of them to the C:\ drive, I get an error.
If I try to create a new file, I get an error.
If I do this on another server, or on my desktop, it works - just not on the
server hosting WSS...
Does this help?
Cheers

Obviously not that (which is Internet Explorer not Windows Explorer) but
how exactly are you trying to do this with Windows Explorer ?

meaning ?
open the doc list in a view and right-click on the (file) name perhaps ?
(So Save As isn't working)

Hi,
I have a Win 2003 server with WSS 3.0 installed that is acting as our
company intranet. We have several Sites with document libraries. When
logged onto the server, I can navigate to the document libraries using
windows explorer, and view the contents.
The problem is that I can not copy into or out of the document library
using windows explorer when logged onto the server! I always get a
message that concludes with "The File Exists".
If I log onto my desktop, or another server then I can copy/create
files to my hearts content. I am the portal admin, so it shouldn't be
permissions...
I have tried restarting the WebClient service and rebooting the
server, but no joy.
This was working until about a week ago, when "it just stopped..."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
